Privacy Policy

The short version

No accounts. No sale of data. No ad tracking today. Your settings, favorites, and learning progress live on your device. Weather requests necessarily tell our servers which airports or map areas you're looking at; we don't tie that to your identity.

What we process

• Weather requests. Airport identifiers, map areas, and routes you look up are sent to our servers to fetch weather. Standard server logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) are retained briefly for reliability and abuse prevention.
• Location. If you tap "locate me," your position is used on the device to center the map; the surrounding map area (not your precise position) is used to request nearby weather. Location is never stored on our servers and the permission is optional.
• Pilot tips. If you post an airport tip, we store the tip text, the airport, and a random device identifier generated on your phone (used for rate limiting and abuse handling). It is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID. Tips are public.
• On-device data. Favorites, recents, settings, personal minimums, XP/streaks, and cached weather are stored only on your device and can be removed by deleting the app.
• Launch notifications. If you give metarmaster.com your email address to be told when the app launches, we store that address and use it for exactly that one announcement. Email support@metarmaster.com any time to be removed from the list.
• Decoder telemetry. When a METAR contains a group our decoder doesn't recognize, we log that report (public weather data) to improve the decoder.

Data sources

Weather and airport data come from NOAA/AviationWeather.gov, the FAA, NASA GIBS, and RainViewer. Reports shown in the app are public data.

What we don't do

• No selling or sharing of personal data.
• No third-party advertising or tracking SDKs in the current app.
• No account creation or contact upload; the only email we hold is one you volunteer for the launch announcement.

If we add optional subscriptions or advertising in the future, this policy will be updated first and the app will ask for any consent the law requires.

Children's privacy

METAR Master is suitable for general audiences but is not directed at children under 13. The app has no accounts and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. See Age Suitability for details.
